Na manhã desta sexta-feira (19), a Prefeitura de Sorocaba, por meio da Secretaria do Meio Ambiente, Proteção e Bem-Estar Animal (Sema), realizou a Blitz Dezembro Verde na Avenida Ipanema, na altura do número 4.788, no Jardim Novo Horizonte. Durante a ação educativa, que ocorreu entre 9h e 11h30, a equipe abordou cerca de 500 motoristas.
A iniciativa, que integra o calendário de ações educativas da Sema, reafirmando o compromisso da Prefeitura de Sorocaba com políticas públicas de educação, prevenção e promoção do bem-estar animal, teve como objetivo sensibilizar os moradores, estimulando atitudes responsáveis e fortalecendo a cultura de cuidado e respeito à vida animal.
Durante a blitz, os motoristas receberam orientações sobre guarda responsável, além de materiais informativos. Como parte da ação, foram adesivados mais de 200 veículos com a frase “Diga não ao abandono!”, além da distribuição de cerca de 300 adesivos, ampliando o alcance da mensagem de proteção e respeito aos animais.
Nesta época de férias e de festividades, quando as famílias viajam, lamentavelmente, a incidência do abandono de animais domésticos costuma aumentar em todo o Brasil. Em razão disso, foi criada, há alguns anos, a campanha Dezembro Verde, com o objetivo de sensibilizar a população sobre essa problemática e abordar a importância da adoção responsável.
Adotar um cão ou um gato é assumir uma responsabilidade e jamais pode ser uma ação por impulso. Os tutores precisam garantir o cuidado desses animaizinhos por toda a vida. Por isso, quem for viajar deve se programar. Se não puder levar o pet junto e tiver condições financeiras, existem hospedagens que oferecem esse tipo de serviço a cães e gatos. Outra opção é deixá-lo com um parente ou um amigo, durante esses dias.
O abandono de animais é crime e quem descumprir a lei pode sofrer penalidades previstas.
